Tom Chiu
Tom is an active angel investor with over 20 years industry experience. He has invested in more than 20 startups. Tom also serves on the advisory boards of several companies in the mobile, Internet, and ecommerce markets. Tom is currently the founder of IPforAsia, an intellectual property marketplace to bridge between Greater China and large U.S. corporations. He is the primary patent broker for HP Networking patents.
Tom has over 15 years of global business development experience in the mobile phone, consumer electronics and wireless space. He was represented Philips on the board of the WiFi Alliance and chaired the DLNA China task force. While working as Director of Software Strategy at Philips Components, he created the first multi-million dollar software-only business in company history. In 2003, Tom was one of the founding members of NXP Software located in Shanghai, China. As the Director of Business Development, he created and managed over 25 headcounts in three Greater China locations. In 2008, he established NXP Software North America operation which generated multi-million dollar revenues. Tom also worked in various management positions in startups and global corporations.
